Montague Harbour - Galiano Island, British Colombia

I had the opportunity to sail Trident, to Montague Harbor on Galiano Island in British Columbia. It was a beautiful trip, with clear blue skies and calm waters.

This is a busy spot, but driving early afternoon we were able to find a mooring buoy. The marina has a number of mooring buoys available and they were all in great condition. They cost $14 per night. We felt secure and safe mooring our boat there as it is a busy anchorage during the summer. You can anchor in Montague Harbour too, but space is limited. You can also anchor off the beach on the other side if the lagoon, but that is more exposed to winds.

After we settled in, we decided to explore the area. One of the highlights of our visit was a trip to Shell Beach, which is just a short walk from the marina or by dingy. The beach is covered in shells of all shapes and sizes, and it's a great place to take a leisurely stroll or sit and enjoy the scenery.

After our visit to the beach, we decided to take the bus to the Hummingbird pub. The bus service on the island is reliable and convenient, and we were able to catch a ride right from the marina. The pub was a great spot to grab a drink and relax after a day of sailing.

We dropped our crab pot overnight and caught three crabs, one of which we were able to keep.

Overall, our visit to Montague Harbor was a wonderful experience. The marina was well-maintained and had everything we needed, and the surrounding area was full of beautiful natural beauty and great amenities like the shell beach and the pub. I would definitely recommend this destination to anyone looking to sail in British Columbia. But remember, get there early if you want a mooring buoy!
